But enough time had gone by that I didn't feel I would be comparing the two side by side, so I decided to give this a chance. In a cutthroat talent competition, Corey and Jimmy get off on the wrong foot. Just be warned about the ending drama, and breathe easy knowing that it will all be okay.

But if you want a good cry and some serious coming-of-age shit, you'll definitely love this. The characters were very well written, but the book would benefit from taking out some of the repetitive or extraneous stuff. It was great to learn them on their own first, what made them who they are, their strengths and weakness. The way they start is kind of ridiculous, but fine.

But when both make it through to the finals and become roommates, an unlikely romance blossoms. And I really believed their feelings for each other, even if the I-love-you's were too quick. Bobby has an image to maintain and flatly denies the possibility that his same-sex attractions even exist. After that I really liked the relationship progression, even though it was fast.

Overall a very nice romance, with some small bumps along the way. He's cute and spunky and fun, but seemed age-appropriate with regards to behavior and intelligence. And while the sex is only alluded to and not graphic, I still felt their connection and the sexual tension. It was really good, although it felt like it ended rather abruptly so that left me with a less than stellar last impression.

Maybe it's a compliment to say that the drama had me so anxious that I actually skimmed the last few chapters because I just couldn't stand the not knowing.
